Create a Membership Level (or Levels, as needed)<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before you import, create a new membership level, which is going to be a legacy version of your active levels. Call it \u2018Legacy\u2019 or whatever you like, and since it is just for the import, you will not even need a product. It should have the same content access, etc, as your existing level, but this \u2018Legacy\u2019 membership level will be set to expire. The expiration period is the length of your billing cycle (i.e. 1 week, 1 month).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have different membership levels with different access, then create one Legacy level for each (Legacy A, Legacy B, etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the MemberMouse menu, go to\u00a0<em>Product Settings<\/em>\u00a0and click on the\u00a0<em>Membership Levels<\/em>\u00a0tab.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click \u2018Create Membership Level\u2019.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A dialog box will pop up containing all of the options available for configuring the membership level. The following steps will show you what to choose for each available option. However, if you\u2019d like to learn more, this article provides more details:\u00a0<a dir=\"ltr\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/membermouse.com\/docs\/membership-levels-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\">Membership Level Options<\/a><br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the name of the Membership Level as \u201cLegacy [name of original membership level]\u201d. For example, Legacy Bronze Membership.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the Status as \u2018Active\u2019.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For WordPress role, keep it as \u2018Don\u2019t Set or Change Role\u2019.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the Membership Type as \u2018Free\u2019. Even if this is usually a paid membership level, you will not be using this legacy level for billing purposes.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the checkbox next to \u2018Membership Level Expires\u2019. Choose the length of time that\u2019s equivalent to one of your billing cycles. For this example, choose \u20181 month\u2019.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The \u2018Send a Welcome Email to New Members\u2019 is checked by default. A sample email is already filled out for you, and you can customize this however you\u2019d like. This article provides more details about creating a welcome email. If you do not wish to send an email upon import, you can uncheck this box.<br><br><strong>Note:\u00a0<\/strong>You are also given the option to bypass the welcome email in the Import Wizard settings.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have created bundles, choose any bundles that you\u2019d like these legacy members to have access to while on this expiring membership level.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on \u2018Save Membership Level\u2019.<br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Here\u2019s what your Membership Level configuration will look like\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/wpgcbucket\/wp\/2023\/08\/a2861bdd-ay_db6x3qic87guk916yk0iq4u2t7lv9a.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/wpgcbucket\/wp\/2023\/08\/a2861bdd-ay_db6x3qic87guk916yk0iq4u2t7lv9a.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8789\" style=\"width:550px\" width=\"550\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#abb7c278\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>PRO TIP: Do you want to hide the WordPress admin bar from your members?<\/strong> <br><br>To instruct MemberMouse to hide the WordPress admin bar from new members, go to General Settings > Other Settings. In the WordPress User Options section, check the check box next to \u2018Hide the admin bar for new members\u2019. <br><br>If you leave the box unchecked, whether or not the admin bar will be shown to new members will be based on settings in WordPress or another plugin. <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>II. Import Your Members using the Import Wizard<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Import Wizard will import all of your members, their account information, and their appropriate access rights into MemberMouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted has-background has-small-font-size\" style=\"background-color:#abb7c278\">Are you a visual learner?\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/2Fhvs62GNx4?si=63jYBFz5feLI58Dm\" target=\"_blank\">Watch the Video.<\/a><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>MemberMouse integrates seamlessly with WordPress\u2019 user system.<\/strong>&nbsp;This means that when a MemberMouse member is created, a WordPress user is automatically created as well. At that time, WordPress will send out a Change Password Email to those new users. If you import members with an email address that matches an existing WordPress user, then the import wizard will automatically convert them to MemberMouse members while keeping their original WordPress user account intact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CAUTION:\u00a0Make sure that the email address(es) you have linked to your administrator account(s) and any additional employee accounts are not present in the import .csv file.<\/strong>\u00a0If these are included, a member account will be created, and admin\/ employee rights will be revoked. Therefore you won\u2019t be able to log into your WordPress admin area with that account anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A. Prep your .csv file(s).&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the MemberMouse menu, go to Manage Members and click on the \u2018Import Members\u2019 button. This will take you to the Import Wizard page.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next, click the \u2018Download Import Template\u2019 button. This will prompt a .csv file download onto your computer titled: mm_import_template.csv .\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/membermouse.com\/docs\/import-members-with-the-import-wizard\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/membermouse.com\/docs\/import-members-with-the-import-wizard\/\">See what fields are included in the template.<\/a><\/em><br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download a new .csv file for each membership level and rename the file as the membership level to help stay organized.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the file and add a row for each member you want to import. The column headers represent the fields that MemberMouse will recognize when importing your member\u2019s information. All columns must be present, and in the order they appear in the template for the Import Wizard to process the data correctly.&nbsp;<strong>Make sure not to delete any of the columns or rearrange them.<\/strong><br><strong><br><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Imports are done one membership level at a time so create a .csv file for each membership level you want to import members for and populate it with the appropriate member data.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#abb7c278\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>PRO TIP:<\/strong>&nbsp;If you want to add additional member data not included in one of the column headers,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/membermouse.com\/docs\/create-a-custom-checkout-field\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">create a Custom Field<\/a>. Then add the additional columns to the .csv file after the&nbsp;<em>Bundle Expiration Dates<\/em>&nbsp;column.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>B. Upload your .csv file(s).&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go back to the Import Wizard page in MemberMouse and upload the .csv import file by clicking the \u2018Browse\u2019 button and navigating to the appropriate .csv file. You can also optionally specify a URL where the .csv file is hosted.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the membership level from the drop down menu that corresponds to the member data contained in the .csv file you selected.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can optionally choose to send a welcome email to all new members being imported by checking the box next to \u2018Send welcome email to new members\u2019. If you do choose this option, it will send the welcome email that you configured while creating the membership level.<br><br><strong>EXTRA:<\/strong>\u00a0If you\u2019re having MemberMouse automatically generate passwords, you can\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/membermouse.com\/docs\/create-a-welcome-email\/\" target=\"_blank\">configure the welcome email<\/a>\u00a0to deliver the passwords to your members. If you want to do this, be sure to configure the welcome email template for the appropriate membership levels prior to doing an import.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the \u2018Import Members\u2019 button.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Following the import, MemberMouse will display the results of the import.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the \u2018Import More Members\u2019 button to repeat the process and import additional members.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#abb7c278\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>WORDPRESS TIP #1:\u00a0<\/strong>MemberMouse integrates seamlessly with WordPress\u2019 user system. This means that when a MemberMouse member is created, a WordPress user is automatically created as well. Transfer Billing<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A. Create a push notification.<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Create a push notification that triggers an email to be sent to the customer when the Legacy membership expires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the WordPress Dashboard, go to\u00a0<em>MemberMouse > Developer Tools<\/em>\u00a0and then click on the\u00a0<em>Push Notifications<\/em>\u00a0tab.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the \u2018Create Push Notifications\u2019 button and a dialog will pop up where you\u2019ll configure the email notification.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure that Status is set to \u2018Active\u2019.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the\u00a0<em>When the following event occurs\u2026<\/em>\u00a0heading, select \u2018Membership Status Changed\u2019 from the drop down.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After selecting this, another section will show up. Under the\u00a0<em>When membership level is\u2026<\/em>\u00a0heading, you can select your Legacy level to indicate that this notification should be triggered only by that membership level.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the&nbsp;<em>When membership status is\u2026<\/em>&nbsp;heading, you can select \u2018Expired\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>B. Create an email to send to your customer.<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under the\u00a0<em>Perform the following action\u2026\u00a0<\/em>heading, select \u2018Send Email\u2019 from the drop down.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u2018Current Member\u2019 next to the\u00a0<em>To:<\/em>\u00a0label indicating that the notification email should be sent to the customer.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose who the email is sent from by selecting an employee from the dropdown next to the\u00a0<em>From:<\/em>\u00a0label. This dropdown contains all of the employee accounts currently created in the MemberMouse system.\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/membermouse.com\/docs\/employee-accounts-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\">Learn more about Employee Accounts.<\/a>If you would like additional recipients to be notified, you can add them next to the\u00a0<em>cc:<\/em>\u00a0label by adding the email addresses, using commas to separate multiple email addresses.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the email, you will let your customer know that the level expired and ask them to re-sign up by including a purchase link for their equivalent, non-expiring membership level in MemberMouse. You can even put in some special copy explaining your site migration. The customer can choose to use their existing username and password (Recommended) or create a new username and password. You can find a sample version of this email, in the FAQs section of this guide.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the \u2018Save Push Notification\u2019 button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>C. How to look up a purchase link for your email.<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the MemberMouse menu, go to Product Settings, and click on the \u2018Products\u2019 tab.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Purchase Links column, click on the\u00a0&#8216;dollar sign'\u00a0button next to the item you would like to generate a purchase link for.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The following Purchase Links dialog box will pop up:<br><br><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8792\" style=\"width: 450px;\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/wpgcbucket\/wp\/2023\/08\/7b5e080a-s055pdd9brnuofraeejgabkum84yr7hfgg.png\" alt=\"\"><br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Purchase Link SmartTag is one of several SmartTags that can be included in an email created as part of a push notification. Copy and paste the Purchase Link SmartTag.<br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>D. Billing is Re-established.<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once your members click on the Purchase Link in the email, they will be taken to the dynamic Checkout core page on your site. Here they\u2019ll fill out billing information and re-purchase their membership via MemberMouse.
