We like your style!
It sounds like you’re ready to build an online library stocked full of valuable courses & guides.
If so, you can’t go wrong with this model for your membership.
The Online Course & Digital Product Portal is one of the most popular models out there. We see our customers turn to it time and time again.
This will be best for you if you want to create a variety of standalone products that can either be bought individually or bundled together.
For example, let’s say you sell guitar instruction videos. With this model, you can sell your Blues, Jazz, and Rock guitar lessons as standalone courses. Or, you can bundle them all together into a Guitar Superstar product.
With this model, we use the word “portal” interchangeably with “membership.” Since you’re selling one-time purchase products, this has more to do with access rights than a particular pricing or billing structure.
When someone buys one of your online courses or digital products, a member login is created for them that gives them access to a protected area on your website. Here, you can deliver your course to them and even create a member homepage to display updates, special offers, and more.
Here’s one thing to keep in mind:
Unlike the Pure Membership model, your customers will expect to have lifetime access to your courses once they’ve bought them.
Udemy is a classic use-case of this membership model. If there’s a skill you want to learn, chances are you can find a course for it on Udemy. Their website is home to over 130,000 online courses, all of which can be purchased a-la-carte. If you’re not familiar with them, take a peek at what they’re up to. We have a feeling you’ll find some inspiration for your own online course business.
Kyle Weiger Handstands is another perfect example of the Online Course Portal. On his site, Kyle sells a handful of online courses for anyone interested in learning how to do a handstand. When you buy one of his courses, a login is created for you that lets you access and watch your course in a private member’s area. Next thing you know you’re polishing up your Cirque du Soleil application.
CopyHackers has a comprehensive training library of video courses for copywriters, marketers, and funnel strategists. What’s great about the design of their Online Course Portal is that you can buy each one of their courses individually or get them all bundled together in their “Copy School” program. Take a peek at how they’re doing things, just don’t copy them .
