Notice: On versions 3.0 and above, MemberMouse will no longer deactivate when the license is not detected. Instead, if the license is canceled, your MemberMouse plugin will revert to a default built-in license and will run as it was in a limited feature state. You will need to reactivate the license to gain full access to the MemberMouse features.
If you have noticed a limit of features in the MemberMouse admin area and the below banner displays, there may be trouble with your site communicating with our license server, or you may need to log in to your membermouse.com account and make sure your license is valid.
With whichever version you may be on, there are four reasons why the MemberMouse plugin on your site may become deactivated or limited. If your site has one of these issues, fixing it should resolve license problems. If not, feel free to reach out to our support team ([email protected]).
1. If there is no URL assigned to your license or the URL is incorrect.
MemberMouse needs to know what URL it is being installed on, so you'll need to register your URL prior to activating the plugin. If you have registered a URL, it's important that the URL you enter matches the URL of your WordPress site exactly. The best way to ensure that you're entering in the URL correctly is to log into your WordPress site, go to the General Settings page and copy the WordPress Address (URL).
3. If you manually deactivate it.
Deactivating the plugin does not cancel your account. In order to cancel your account/license, you need to log in to your account on membermouse.com and cancel from the My Account page. For step-by-step instructions, please review, How Do I Cancel My MemberMouse Account
4. If your MemberMouse account has been canceled.
When you cancel MemberMouse the account goes into ‘Pending Cancellation' status until the close of the current billing cycle. When the billing cycle closes, your MemberMouse account will be canceled and the plugin will be deactivated on your site. The MemberMouse plugin reacts to account cancellation differently, depending on the version number.
If you are on versions 3.0 or above: The MemberMouse plugin will remain active if your MemberMouse account is canceled. Billing, SmartTags™, checkout, access control, and front-end functionality will continue. Some settings and backend options will become locked, and they cannot be changed until the license is reactivated.
If you are on versions 2.4.6 or below: The plugin will deactivate after the license check pings your site. This deactivation may be immediate or within a few days. All functionality, including the login, emails, SmartTags™, onsite billing, and access control, will no longer function. Offsite billing will continue, but it will not register in MemberMouse.
IMPORTANT: MemberMouse only manages subscriptions when payments are made through Stripe, Braintree and Authorize.net CIM. MemberMouse does not do this for all other providers, including PayPal, Authorize.net, ClickBank, Coinbase, and Sticky.io. If you have members with active subscriptions through any of those providers, you will have to cancel any active subscriptions with those providers.
5. If the plugin is unable to communicate with the licensing server for an extended time.
Every four days, the plugin on your site initiates a check-in with the MemberMouse licensing server to authorize the license. If there is an error in transmission, this is logged. If this communication failure continues to occur each check-in over a month's time, an alert email is sent to the site admin to inform them of the connection difficulties and potential deactivation.
If you are on versions 3.0 or above: As with previous versions of MemberMouse, it will email you a notice explaining it cannot connect with the license server. After roughly a week, if the connection issue is not fixed, the license will deactivate, but the plugin will stay active. Billing, SmartTags™, checkout, access control, and front-end functionality will continue. Some settings and backend options will become locked, and they cannot be changed until the license is reactivated.
If you are on versions 2.4.6 or below: If the plugin cannot communicate with the MemberMouse license servers, it will first warn you and then disable itself. None of its features will work at all, including billing, login, etc. Deactivation is a last resort and occurs roughly a week after the disconnect warning emails if the problem is not resolved.
